Face lift

As we age, our skin and other facial tissues go through natural changes, and lines and wrinkles appear. Hereditary factors and sun exposure can make these changes happen quicker, and feel more disconcerting.

The most common reason for wanting a face lift is to correct a saggy jaw line. A face lift also rejuvenates the area below the eyes, and the deep wrinkles that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Fine lines around the mouth are not affected, but these can be treated with other methods (see Injections and Medical Skin Care).

Surgeons at Akademikliniken perform either a so-called Deep Face Lift or a Mid Face Lift to give patients a lasting and satisfactory result. This is not to be confused with the so-called ”mini-lift” performed by certain surgeons. The drawback with a ”mini-lift” is that the result is seldom permanent and that sagging skin around the throat and excess skin or folds running between the nose and the edges of the mouth are not treated.
