Dental implants
How long does the treatment take?
The length of the treatment depends on many factors and can only be individually assessed. Some methods last just one hour and there is a tendency towards even shorter treatment times.
Does the treatment hurt?
It may sound a bit brutal to drill titanium screws into the jaw bone, but the fact is that not many patients feel a lot of pain after the treatment. This said, it is normal to expect a certain amount of time after the treatment, easily treated with pain killers.
Are the screws really firmly attached?
A Swedish professor named Per-Ingvar Brånemark made the discovery that bone cells can grow onto a titanium surface and that the screw actually grows into the bone. Titanium is a very tissue-friendly substance and both bone cells and soft tissue take well to the implants. After more than 30 years of clinical experience and more than one million attached screws, Nobel, among others, can show some very good statistics and a success rate higher than 95%.
Can titanium cause allergies?
Titanium is thought to be extremely biocompatible, which means the allergy risk is very low. Many scientific articles recommend titanium as the metal of choice if there is an allergy risk.
Do my implants need the same care as my regular teeth?
Your new teeth that have been fixed to the implants need the same regular care as your other teeth. Cavities are not a problem but it is very important to take care of the gums around the screws and go for regular check-ups at the dentist’s. The screws may also fall victim to ”loose teeth” if oral hygiene is neglected.
